The 2016 Hawksdrift Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of fresh gooseberry, passionfruit and papaya. The palate is full of tropical fruits and citrus characters which continue through to a long refreshing finish. Serve with seafood and Asian dishes.
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on the rim. The nose is fresh and well-concentrated with deep aromas of ripe, pungent passionfruit, fresh herbs and nuances of florals, tropical fruit and minerals. This is taut and tightly bound. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate possesses a sweet-fruited core of passionfruit along with fresh herbs and nuances of tropical fruits. The wine follows a light-textured, dry and taut line, with integrated acidity adding to the drive. This is smooth flowing and leads to a dry, gently textured, lingering finish. This is fresh, youthfully taut, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with fine textures and a soft, dry mouthfeel. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. Wairau Valley fruit, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.8% alc. and 4.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees.
